Welcome back to term 4

collage of pnps students

On Monday 14 October we welcome everyone back for Term 4. We have ten weeks of quality teaching and learning including many key events and celebrations planned for our final term of the year so watch this space! Can you spot the difference in the playground image? Yes the builders and landscapers have been busy at work during the break! The students should enjoy the enhanced play space adjacent to the handball courts. The work on the hall is progressing well and the new play equipment to replace the current rusted and damaged equipment is due for installation in November.

The Canteen renamed ‘The Hub’ has a new kitchen and bench space. This will be painted later in Term 4. We will be sharing this space with the OSHC. As they generally operate before and after school, we will certainly benefit from this improved space.

Two Special Dates For Your Diary

Sunday 20 October P&C Sausage Sizzle Fundraiser – Bunnings – Northmead. Please contact the school office to register your name to assist on the day. The committee members would be so appreciative of 1 hour of your time - this really makes a difference!
We look forward to our entire school community joining together on Wednesday 23 October from 5:30pm- 7:30pm for an Evening of Performing Arts providing an opportunity for every student K-6 to showcase their talent in the arts.

This term we will make every effort to further enhance and improve our communications systems and keep you updated of all events ensuring the website is regularly updated with planners, events and relevant notes.

Gymnastics Program

We are fortunate to offer a comprehensive six week gymnastics program commencing in Week 1. Our school has employed an excellent Gymnastics NSW recognised external provider, Gym Man. This will provide our students the opportunity of developing the fundamental skills of gymnastics delivered by the experts in this field.

All Kindergarten students will have their lessons on Mondays commencing 14 October. Kindergarten students may wear their sports uniform on Mondays. When the students receive their note on Monday, they will see the designated day to wear their sports uniform. Students will continue to wear their sports uniforms on sports day – K-2 Thursdays and 3-6 Fridays.

A detailed gymnastics note will be sent home with all students on Monday to inform you of the day your child will need to wear their sports uniform. This program has been heavily subsidised due to receiving a Sporting Grant from the Australian Sports Commission with an approximate cost to parents of 17 dollars per student. The focus of this program is on initial movement exploration leading to the acquisition of some preliminary gymnastics skills. Students investigate in a variety of movement experiences and challenges, developing skill, demonstrating control and exploring the ways in which the body can move. These experiences are appropriate for all students. They do not involve competitive gymnastics disciplines.

I look forward to catching up with many of our community members on CAPA night. I know the staff members are all recharged and keen to return to PNPS and see the smiling faces of our wonderful students.

Warm regards
Kathryn
